England World Cup hero and Leeds United legend Jack Charlton has actually died.

His family stated in a declaration: “As well as a friend to numerous, he was a much-adored partner, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Nottingham Forest described Charlton as “a true fantastic of the game”, adding that he was a “fantastic enemy, a great manager and a fantastic person”.

The Premier League has said players will use black armbands and hold a minute’s silence in tribute before kick-off during this weekend’s games.

Charlton signed up with Leeds United at the age of 15 as part of the ground staff, before debuting as a gamer versus Doncaster Rovers in 1953.

He helped the club to win promo from the 2nd Division twice, and was likewise part of the side which won the League Cup in 1968 and the FA Cup in 1972.

He scored 96 times for Leeds, making him the club’s ninth greatest scorer in their history.
