Amortizing back rent over 10 years seems like a wonderful means to help renters, if they could afford rent to begin with.
But for several, that’s not the situation.
Prior to the pandemic, greater than 50% of California renters were cost-burdened. Now, we’re finding out that regarding 2.3 million tenant homes (or regarding 7 million individuals) are most likely experiencing prompt work or revenue loss.
